Nobody Else Remix feat Phil Ade - Yonas

Sorry ya'll I was in Tennessee celebrating the resurrection of Jesus with my family.  Anyway in the lead up to Yonas's Debut album "The Proven Theory" he decided to drop a remix on Good Friday of a future hit off of his album "Nobody Else"  Sort of Kanye-esque ya think?  I mean  "Nobody Else" is already one of my Favorites by YONAS, but this remix featuring Phil Ade, another very good up and coming rapper.  So give this a listen, buy YONAS's album on April 25th, oh and Look into Phil Ade's Discography.

Watch Me Go - XV

XV is just on a roll, after dropping his free Album "Zero Heroes" earlier this week, he's now dropping this new song produced by J Cole.  It was rumored that him and Cole did 4 songs together, and "Smallville" was on the tape, so I guess after this one there's two more missing.  Anyway XV decided to drop this song as a thank you to his fans for reaching 25,000 followers on Twitter.  So props to XV and keep watching out for him.  Still looking for that album release "The Kid with the Green Backpack"

In Honor of those that Celebrate 4/20

Although, I don't participate in smoking weed or anything to be honest, I know that some of my viewers probably do, and how can I have a blog without giving the people what they want.  So the following are a few 4/20 songs for you to enjoy:

Pusha-T Fear of God 2: Let Us Pray EP

After the successful ratings of Pusha-T's latest mix tape "Fear of God" that released on March 21st, he has announced Via his twitter that "Fear of God II" will be releasing on June 21st, through Kanye West's label G.O.O.D Music.  Unlike a mix tape this EP will be for sale on iTunes, and will feature some of the songs from the tape remastered along with some new songs.  BET had this to say about the new EP releasing in 2 months.
"Though the former half of the sibling duo Clipse didn't have too many details to share about the upcoming release, he did promise new material and we can expect a serious influence from 'Ye, who signed Pusha T to G.O.O.D. last year."

Thank God It's Starky (T.G.I.S.) - Gabriel Stark

The fact that one guy can somehow use the beats from Jessica Simpson's hit "With you", Jason Mraz's hit "I'm yours", an acoustic guitar song, Bruno Mars "Tonight" Lloyd's version of "Lay it down", Roxette's "listen to your heart"  and more is amazing.  Those aren't typical rap beats, and yet Gabriel Stark and whoever produces for him are very creative.  Gabriel Stark isn't my favorite new rapper, but he's a good one and one that you will probably like.  He blends a mixture of rock, rap, emotional rap, party rap, all into one solid free album.  It's definitely worth a listen. Kanye at Coachella: Recap and Videos

Unlike Kanye West's infamous performance at Bonnaroo, where he was 3-5 hours behind schedule for his early AM set, where he walked onto stage as fans were leaving and the sun was shining on that Tennessee fairground, luckily for the folks at Coachella Kanye West was only 15 minutes behind schedule due to the earlier acts though.  Kanye opens up his set with a HAM instrumental and ballerina's dressed like Phoenix's dancing on stage, then a mural of angels is produced behind the girls and as the beat builds the ballerina's are on there hands and knees praising to the mural, with vibrant shaking.  Meanwhile in the middle of the crowd Mr. West shows up on a cherry picker looking thing, up high in the sky immediately into his first song on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy "Dark Fantasy" I fantasize about this back in Chicago... (as the crowd is screaming and singing along) Kanye is then transferred on this thing, down to the stage, where he completes the rest of act one. "Read More for more review and videos"

Do You Know Me? Day 7: TSOL- Shad

TSOL - Shad: What more is there to say, if you know me then you know that I'm a Huge Shad fan.  I first discovered Shad when I thought I had a chance of going to Warped Tour.  I was checking out the line-up and listening to a song by each artist, and the Song "Brother" came on off of his 2nd album "The Old Prince" and I fell in love instantly.  So now he's finished his third studio album in 2010 and he's shot up in the hip-hop ranks in Canada with it.  Winning the Juno Award for "Rap Recording of the Year" beating out Canadian sensation Drake's "Thank Me Later".  That's huge honor's for anyone, considering there is good hip-hop coming out of Canada daily.  Shad however unlike some of our more familiar canadian rappers, is the cleanest of them all, raps about loving life, social issues, respect for women and way more.  He's not the type to rap about "Screwing your chick"(my parents read this, keeping it PG-13), lighting-up, money, and the other stereotypical rap subjects.  TSOL is a refreshing album, filled with great hooks, great lyrics, great rap flow, rap/rock influences, great production by Dj T LO.  Overall this album is one of my favorite of all time.  To check out some of my favorite songs off the album "Read More"

Kanye West and Kid Cudi - Summerfest 2011

Although, this doesn't really affect any of my readers, I just have to say that I will be attending at least the June 30th concert of Kanye West and Kid Cudi.  I will be posting a Concert Review and also pics from the  Concert, it's gonna be so sick, so just check back here for Pics and a first-hand concert review.

Do You Know Me? Day 6: "Daily Methods" - Incise

"Daily Methods" is a masterpiece in my opinion.  Canadian producer and musician Incise teams up with various unknown artists such as : Shad K ( a rapper out of London, Ontario Canada), Tunji ( a rapper out of California), Nieve ( out of California), Need Not Worry ( rap group out of Rhode Island), Noah King(out of California), Hydroponikz ( out of New York), Okay City (out of Vancouver, Canada), and many more artists to produce this 17 track masterpiece.  This album is filled with many different influences some jazz, some rock, some straight rap, some hip-hop, some R&B, it's got a little bit of everything.  Each song that Incise mixes and creates for these rappers to rap on seems like it's fit perfectly for their rapping style.  It's really quite incredible, now this album isn't for you if you're looking for angry rap or party rap, this is just chill rap, and deserves to be heard.  Check out My favorite songs by "Reading More"

HIIIPoWeR- Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar also know as K.Dot by some is an up and coming superstar.  This song solidifies that fact.  In this track produced by J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar goes off.  Surprisingly, this XXL 2011 freshmen class member is one I haven't really checked out to much, well you can guarantee that's changing as we speak.  In this song Kendrick Lamar uses a little bit of a "So Appalled" type verse (off of Kanye West's album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy), the interesting is in this song he sounds like a mix between Kanye West and Pusha-T, so if that's how is music is then I know I'll fall in love with it instantly.  Well, while I'm busy researching Kendrick, here's HIIIPoWeR to check out.

Do you Know Me? Day 5: "The Greatest Story Never Told" - Saigon

"The Greatest Story Never Told" is Saigon's debut studio album, a 32 year old rapper hailing from Brooklyn, NY.  Now some of you might recognize Saigon from the hit HBO Show "Entourage" he appeared in 4 episodes.  This album is one of my favorites that a lot of people that listen to the radio have never heard.  Saigon has guest features from the likes of: Jay-Z, Faith Evans, Black Thought, Q-Tip, and more, and then the production on this album is done by: Kanye West, Buckwild, and Scram Jones.  This album unlike some of the other's I've posted is a little more heavier, and harder hitting then say Blu's album or Fashawn's, but at the same time it still talks about Conscious issues and growing up and the rap game in general.  Really, is a great album, and Saigon deserves to be heard.  So check out my favorite song and some more info on the album by "Reading More"

XV: Zero Hero's

XV has done it again put out another great tape, I mean when I saw features like  Vado, Pusha-T, Patrick Stump, and 2011 XXL Freshmen class Rappers CyHi Da Prynce and Kendrick Lamar, I knew it would be good, but then when I saw the producers: Seven (does most XV tapes), J. Cole, Just Blaze, I thought i was listening to an album, the production is amazing.  Xv provides good verses on all the songs, and has a great interlude "Hero's eventually Die" talking about greats that have passed, and has great artists on the hooks, this mix tape was well worth the Hype.  My favorites on it are Wichita, That's Just Me,  Pictures On My Wall (uses a Biggie sample how can you not like it, deep lyrical also), All For Me, U.F.C (you'll understand after you listen), and The last Hero.  This mix tape is great and you must check it out, it's got me hyped for "The Kid With The Green Backpack" whenever that comes out but until then listen to "Zero's Hero's" DL link below, takes a little while to DL tho about 12 minutes.

"Zero Hero's" DL: http://www.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes/13626/xv_zero_heroes.html

Spree Wilson: "The Never Ending Now"

Now I don't know what you all will think of this, but I believe I have found a artist that is more versatile then B.o.B which is saying a lot because B.o.B is a Talented rapper, guitar player, and singer.  Well Spree Wilson, does that and more, he has a fantastic voice, can rap with good lyrics, has a love for alternative rock music, and can play some instruments.  I've never heard such a great variety of songs by one man on one mix tape.  When I heard this, I fell in love.  I mean when the guy has influences like Andre 3000 of OutKast and De La Soul, but also has influences with Pink Floyd and Nirvana.  Spree wilson is amazing and you should check out this mixtape.  Favorite song and Download link "Read More"

Mos Def: Yonkers Freestyle

Now if there was anyone more excited on Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All's performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon then Mos Def I will be in shock I mean look at him, he looks like a kid in a candy store literally.  I mean besides Tyler the Creator of course.  Anyway at a live performance about two nights ago Mos dropped this sick freestyle over "Yonkers" Tyler the Creator's hit song.

Believe in H.O.P.E. Wright- Hope Wright

Quite honestly, I can't find too much out about Hope Wright, besides the fact that he's from Compton, Ca.  Anyway this is his first mix tape that he's released commercially at least, I discovered it while on 2dopeboyz.com, so credit to them for finding such a good mix tape.  Hope Wright raps over some solid beats and has a good flow, combined with good lyrics.  His mix tape is really something to check out.  My favorite song off the mix tape is "Say So" feat Kevin Cossom, who was also recently featured on Pusha-T's new mix tape.  Anyway check it out if you like the song, then click on the link for his website on the bottom and download his album for free.

Believe in H.O.P.E. Wright DL: (http://hope1st.com/)

Do You Really Know Me? Day 4: "Boy Meets World" - Fashawn

"Boy Meets World" is Fashawn's Debut album.  Fashawn is a rapper from Fresno, California, and like the album by Blue mentioned earlier in this series, Boy Meets World is produced by Exile.  Fashawn was a member of the 2010 XXL Freshmen class along with names like Wiz Khalifa and J Cole.  Boy Meets World is essentially Fashawn's life.  There's something special about someone rapping about their lives and their trials, I mean you saw it with early Eminem and that's what set him apart from rap during the early 2000's, and that's what Fashawn brings in this album, Great Story Telling.  Typically I listen to Fashawn and Blu simultaneously because there are many similarities minus flow, but their content is very similar and refreshing to hear.  Since Boy Meets World, Fashawn has released 3 more mix tapes, my favorite of them being "Higher Learning 2" if you like this album then check out that mix tape.  To listen to a few songs off the album "Read More"

Lil B: Charlie Sheen

Lil B does it again, nah i'm not that big of a fan of his but after hits like "Ellen Degeneres," "Justin Bieber," and "Miley Cyrus" how can you not love Lil B SWAG.  The best part about this song is "Winning SWAG Sheen" Winning SWAG Sheen" but surprisingly Lil B doesn't only rap like this, if you haven't heard his mix tape "Angel Exodus" then I recommend you listen to it.  Oh and look out for more "Based God" here in the future.

CyHi Da Prynce: Def Jam Rapstar Freestyle

CyHi Da Prynce a up and coming rapper, that made XXL Magazine's 2011 Freshmen Class absolutely kills this freestyle.  CyHi is a rapper from Atlanta, Georgia, who is signed to Kanye West's label "GOOD Music," CyHi has been featured on a song on Kanye's latest album: "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" and also on many of Kanye West's GOOD Friday releases leading up to the album.  CyHi is the definition of a punchline rapper, the difference is CyHi's punchlines are actually good as you could see here.  He's also a nasty freestyler, Yelawolf (member of 2011 XXL Class) said that the only two people he wouldn't battle against are CyHi and Eminem.  Now that's pretty big honors, also Kanye West said that CyHi would beat him in a battle.  Anyway check out this freestyle and if you like it then check out CyHi Da Prynce's mix tapes "Royal Flush" and "Prynce of Jacks"

Do you know me? Day 3: How I got Over - The Roots

Day 3: How I got Over - The Roots

How I got Over was the Roots ninth studio Album released off of Def Jam Records.  the Roots have been a hip-hop group since early to mid 90's and have been going strong ever since.  The Roots are now the house band for "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon."  The Roots main rapper Black Thought is arguably one of the greatest MC's in the game, he never has a dull verse.  Anyway How I got Over released in 2010 was easily one of my favorite albums of the year, and I recommend you to check it out.

Here's one of my favorite songs off the album, even though every song on the album is a classic in my opinion, if you like this then you must check out the album, and if you like the album, then dive deep into the Discography of the legends: The Roots.

Frank Ocean: Nostalgia/Ultra Album review (w/songs and DL Link)

Frank Ocean: Nostalgia/Ultra

By the former alias Lonny Breaux, Frank Ocean has just released possibly a more critically acclaimed R&B mixtape/Album since So Far Gone, yea I liked So Far Gone, then Drizzy signed to Young Money, but that's besides the point. Frank Ocean has been a writer for great artists such as Beyonce, Brandy, John Legend, and even Justin Bieber. Frank Ocean is a writer and R&B singer living in New York city, but earlier this year Frank Ocean decided to take his talents out west and is recently now a member of OFWGKTA ( odd future wolf gang kill them all) a super group of young rebellious teens out of California, that skateboard very well, and write music. The two most notable of this group are Earl Sweatshirt and Tyler the Creator. Although some others like Hodgy Beats are starting to make a name for themselves along with Domo Genesis. Anyway Frank is the only R&B artists out of the group and he released Nostaliga/Ultra as his first official work.

Do you know me? Day 2: Below the Heavens - Blu

Day 2: "Below the Heavens" - Blu

This album by Blu & Exile is one of my favorite of late.  Blu a rapper out of California and Exile a  Dj/Producer, create this masterpiece.  "Below the Heavens" was a collaboration album with Exile that released in 2007.  I absolutely love this album, Blu's rapping with Exile's production skills produce a top notch masterpiece.  Here's my favorite song from "Below the Heavens" but there are many, Buy Below the Heavens on iTunes or get it however you get your music and you won't be disappointed.

Charles Hamilton: Desperation

I'm not sure if this is a new song by Charles Hamilton, a Cleveland born rapper, but it's the first time that I've come across it.  Personally, I'm a CH fan but like Weezy he releases everything he makes, so he's got a ton of mix tapes to dive into, but if you like this song then there are a few Charles Hamilton mix tapes to check out "The Pink Lava Lamp" and "It's Charles Hamilton" Also,  it's rumored that his first ever studio album will be released this year, so check back here for updates.  (Download Links below)

Noah - The Wonderful Struggle

This new Mix tape that I just found while visiting my favorite Music message boards, was something I coudln't help but share with the rest of you.  Noah mixes a good bit of conscious rap with some typical radio stuff, with a little bit of auto-tune and commercial type music.  He doesn't over due any of those though, and you can tell through this mix tape that he's putting his whole heart into it, and that's something I respect 100%.   Check out my favorite song and get the Download link by "Reading More"

Lupe Fiasco: LASERS Album Review

As many of you know, Lupe Fiasco is one of my favorite artists, along with the likes of Shad and Kanye West.  Lupe Fiasco's 3rd studio Album entitled LASERS will be releasing through Atlantic Records March 8,2011.  However for people like me that pre-ordered the album off of Lupefiasco.com; we got the delight of receiving the album on Friday March 4th.

Gorilla Warfare Tactics: Premier

Gorilla Warfare Tactics hailing from New York City, NY, in my opinion could be one of the best up and coming hip-hop trio's.  Straight off there Facebook " Their music is heavily influenced by the feel of old-school hip-hop, as well as the new wave of dynamic artists such as Kanye West, J Cole, and Jay Electronica.  "Premier" is a nice boom bat type old-school mix tape, and after you listen to the song above you'll definitely be feeling GWT.
